At HOKKAIDian Homestead, we are in the journey of learning and adapting the Biodynamic methods. We believe that biodynamic farming ensures that various elements – the soil, the plants, the animals, and the humans – can develop and grow together in harmony.
In 1924, a group of farmers noticed increased disease and decreased resilience in both animals and plants. Alongside this there were concerns about the negative impacts of agro-industrial practices and chemical fertilizers that were just beginning. They approached Rudolf Steiner, convinced there had to be a better way to farm and work with nature. That was the beginning of biodynamic farming.

Biodynamic farming is contributing in many ways to society by improving soil fertility, by fostering biodiversity, by preserving our environment and so much more. Every month in 2024, we will shed the light on one particular benefit of biodynamic farming and investigate further how biodynamic farming provides solutions to many challenges of today.
