An Autumn Evening Dream

An Autumn Evening Dream

An Evening of Food, Beer and Music!

“This would make a cool outdoor concert space!”,  I said to Noriko as we looked at the newly finished deck this past summer.
That little wish came true as HOKKAIDian Homestead hosted the first outdoor concert as part of our Autumn Beer Festival.
Vocalist Ms. Chiaki Fujikawa, serenaded our guests with in a festive yet initiate setting.  Supported by guitarist musician Susumu Shidou, they warmed our guests on that cool autumn evening with an eclectic selection from jazz standards like Fly Me To The Moon to her beautiful rendition of Englishman in New York.  They also performed smooth Japan ballads including songs from her debut CD.

Also on hand was our co-host for the evening Arai-san of  craft beer bar Loco Base (Date, Hokkaido) who selected 4 excellent brews of various styles to accompany an homemade seasonal menu prepared by our chef Bastien and yours truly.

Another star of the evening was our very own cured ham, prepared by us and a few friends, using nothing but top quality por from a local ranch, natural salt and time.
